The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is set to kick off its spring classes on January 27, offering a diverse array of performing arts programs for children and adults. Recognized as South Florida Family magazine’s Favorite Arts Program from 2018 to 2024, these classes aim to foster creativity, build confidence, and develop skills in singing, dancing, acting, and improvisation. Despite some classes already being filled, there are still numerous opportunities available across various age groups, including introductory and advanced courses.

Engaging Programs for Young Performers

The center offers an extensive selection of classes tailored specifically for young performers, providing them with a platform to explore their artistic talents. Courses such as Dramatic Play, Let’s Explore a Show!, and Intro to Musical Theater introduce foundational skills in a fun and supportive environment. These classes culminate in performances that showcase students' newfound abilities, encouraging artistic expression and self-confidence. Through role-playing, theater games, and collaborative projects, participants learn essential elements of storytelling, character development, and stage presence.

Dramatic Play: Oh, The Places You’ll Go invites kindergarteners into a world of imaginative adventures inspired by beloved children's books. This class nurtures creativity and vocabulary while building self-esteem and problem-solving skills. Meanwhile, Let’s Explore a Show! takes students aged 6-9 through the process of bringing a musical production to life, from auditions to final performances. In Intro to Musical Theater, children engage in singing, dancing, and acting using Broadway hits, developing a strong foundation in all areas of performance arts. Sing! Act! Dance! builds on this foundation, helping students refine their skills and gain confidence in their abilities.

Advanced Classes and All Abilities Programs

For older students and those seeking more advanced training, the Broward Center provides specialized classes that challenge and expand their skills. Theater Games, Acting & Improv, and Broadway Dance Skills offer intermediate to advanced-level instruction, focusing on character development, improvisational techniques, and dance proficiency. These classes prepare students for auditions and performances while fostering teamwork and creative expression. Additionally, Teen Acting classes provide high school students with an in-depth exploration of acting principles, enhancing their public speaking and script analysis skills.

The center also caters to individuals with physical and developmental disabilities through its All Abilities classes. These inclusive programs create a welcoming environment where participants can enjoy dance and singing experiences alongside family members. Complimentary parking, beverages, and cookies encourage social interaction among attendees. Furthermore, the Broward Center announces the return of Summer Theater Camp 2025, offering two sessions at multiple locations for continued learning and engagement in the performing arts. With a commitment to accessibility and excellence, the Broward Center continues to be a beacon of artistic education and entertainment for the community.
